"Local Bars Celebrate New Brooklyn Surrogate"
 
Local bar leaders gathered on Wednesday, January 29th, 2006,
to celebrate the recent elevation of Judge Margarita López Torres
to the bench as the new Surrogate for Kings County.
 
Judge López Torres recently made history as the first person
of Latino descent to win county-wide election in Brooklyn.
She is also the first person of Latino descent
to serve as a Surrogate in the State of New York.
 
The reception was hosted at the offices of the law firm of
Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP (MBR&M).
